As many of you have already seen, we’ve created a campaign to promote helmet use among riders of all kinds called Wear a Helmet 4ST. We’ve gotten a ton of riders to take the 4ST pledge to wear their helmets and have sent 4ST decals all over the world. It’s so cool to see the decals popping up in a lot of the videos and photos coming through Freebord and we’re psyched so many people are getting behind this movement.

That said, here are just a few examples of what Wear a Helmet 4ST means to some of the fans. Please go to www.Facebook.com/WearAHelmet4ST to take the pledge and share your story with us!

“Hey guys, I got my stickers today, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. One of the guys from our crew got into a monster crash while going downhill yesterday. He’s bed bound for a week but no major damage, thanks to his helmet which now has a 15 cm crack down one side (picture). It could have been way worse. Moral of the story, wear a helmet and stay safe. Thanks for helping spread the message. So much love for you guys from Australia ♥” — Amanda Amelle Young

“I’ve just received the stickers in the UK, thanks guys! I survived a severe brain injury and your pledge came out just as I left hospital. I didn’t used to ride with a helmet but now I realise the danger that exists. I think it’s a great idea and I’ll be spreading word about always riding with a helmet.” — Matt Turnbull

“Just arrived to Argentina!! Sharing to everyone’s who rides!!” — Uli Bayer

“Being lucky enough to be able to call Sam Trowbridge one of my best friends, I’d like everyone to know how humbled he would be at the incredible response of this by everyone involved. Thank you all do much, Duncs.” — Duncan Wright

“My son had a serious freeboarding accident last summer where he nearly died. He had a helmet on but not properly. He fractured his skull along the temporal lobe, broke his ear drum and had a brain injury. My kids were never allowed to ski, snowboard, skateboard, bike ride etc without a helmet. I support this page and pledge, shared it to all my friends of Facebook…but please wear them properly as well…nothing worse than being told your child may not survive.” — Cheryl Houghton-Flamand

Think you got what it takes to be on the Freebord Pro Team? You’ve got a few more days to prove it! Put together your best 2 minute reel and send it to team@freebord.com by Saturday, December 31, 2011 to be considered.

Here’s how it works:

  • Put together a 2 minute edited highlight reel that shows us what you got (make sure you highlight all aspects of your riding). We want your best raw riding clips sequenced together into a 2 minute max video. You can use clips we have already seen from this year or new footage.
  • We will be looking 100% at the quality of your riding, not your editing – so your video should showcase your best riding clips. This is not a concept video. You can add music if you want or keep the audio raw – your call – but no effects otherwise.
  • For reference, check out last year’s team submissions. This is the level of riding you should be aiming for.
  • Upload your video to any video hosting site (Vimeo, Youtube, etc.) and email the link to team@freebord.com.
  • We will only accept one video per rider.
  • All videos are due by December 31, 2011. No late submissions will be considered.

Our videos get picked up on blogs quite a bit these days. But this blog, HireTheStache.Com, has written quite possibly the best description of the Freeboard A-team in Austria: The Out-of-Towners we have ever seen.

“The amount of pee that came out of my body while watching this is unhealthy for any grown man. This video is yet another reason while I’ll leave the art of being awesome to these guys, while I continue being a professional observer.”

Thanks for the shout out, dude. It’s great to see the hipster community preeshing our product.

Check out the guy’s blog here and watch The Out-of-Towners below.

Arnaud Blin’s video “Southern Alps Session” has been blowing up the blogosphere with appearances on a bunch of blogs across the U.S. Ever since hitting the front video page of Reddit earlier this week, his video has over 180,000 views and has appeared on the likes of Viddler.com, TheChive.com and BroBible.com. Best part is, none of these bloggers have ever heard about us before and refer to Freebord as “this new sport.” We’ve been around for 15 years!
